Valentine’s Day was just a few weeks away and, though it doesn’t mean as much to people anymore as it did in their childhoods sitting in elementary school classrooms coloring with pink and red crayons niceties that would be folded and slipped into little red folders along with some candy, it still carried the societal expectation that you have a “somebody” for your own. John was feeling that pressure now as the days slipped away. He was single, but not necessarily unlucky in love. He was a “nice” guy and…well you know the old adage. And though John was a little disappointed in his singular status, he wasn’t hell-bent on finding a girlfriend in the next few weeks as much as he was hoping to do something nice for someone; something that harkened back to those simpler Valentine’s Days of youth.
